In disc golf, your footwear is extremely important. Just think about it for a minute. Think about all of the rounds you’ve played through rain, mud, mountainous terrain, woods, hills, snow, heat, and everything else imaginable. Those rounds were tough. But you know what helped you get through them? A good pair of disc golf shoes.
Another thing that’s important to players such as myself is money…and the ability to save it whenever possible. One reason I play disc golf is because of how inexpensive it is. So finding a good quality pair of disc golf shoes for a reasonable price was big. Today we’re going to go over 7 of the cheapest and best quality disc golf shoes, why I picked them for this list, and our #1 pick for best disc golf shoe for your money. So let’s get started!
The 7 best cheap disc golf shoes
1. Adidas Rockadia Trail Runner
2. New Balance 410v6 Trail Runner
3. Columbia Crestwood Waterproof Shoe
4. Asics Gel-Kahana 8 Trail Runner
5. Adidas Terrex AX2R Disc Golf Shoe
6. Merrell Yokota 2 Sport Hiking Shoe
7. Adidas Terrex AX3 Disc Golf Shoe
4 reasons why you need good, cheap shoes for disc golf
1. We may hike multiple miles
Even 9 holes of disc golf can be a half mile walk or more! So it’s safe to say that you could potentially walk a couple miles at a time during your disc golf rounds. You need the shoes to be able to tackle all that.
2. The terrain can be unpredictable
In disc golf, we throw discs through trees, the forest, and over courses with unpredictable and mountainous terrain. Because of that, we need really good sport hiking trail shoes.
3. Our motions and how we play
Disc golf is a bit more unpredictable than ball golf. Our motions in throwing discs over all of that unpredictable terrain shows that we need sturdy, durable, reliable shoes.
4. We’re broke
Yep, the majority of us just don’t have a lot of money. I’m a dad with a law enforcement job and a disc golf blog. My wife teaches, so no, we’re not rich. I need good quality shoes at an affordable price and so do you.
So, with all of that said, here’s what we need in a shoe:
• Comfort
• Durability
• Performance
• Style
• Low cost
If you can find all of that in a shoe, it’s good for disc golf.
Why I picked the shoes on this list
Price, obviously
One of the main reasons I made this list is because there are disc golfers that are looking for cheap gear, shoes included. This list features 7 of the absolute best disc golf shoes for a very reasonable price – in this post, I used $80 dollars as a benchmark for the most expensive shoe on this list. **Note: now you may find a version of one of these shoes a few dollars above $80, but as of the writing of this post, all of the shoes were $79.99 or cheaper.
Quality
All of the 7 shoes on this list were made by good, solid, reputable brands in the sports and hiking industries. and thus, are good quality pairs of shoes. The quality that you’ll get for your money will be top notch.
Our #1 overall pick
While I had a lot of great options to choose, the decision was fairly difficult. It was between this shoe and the Columbia Crestwood hiking shoe. In the end, I went with this shoe because it was more popular in the #discgolfcommunity. Our choice was:
The Adidas Terrex AX3 Disc Golf Shoe
I chose the Adidas Terrex AX2R because of overall performance. It is built to be an all-terrain, sporty hiking shoe. It’s built to be used for extremes like those found on a disc golf course.
I also chose the Terrex AX2R because of the price. It will run you about $50-75 bucks and will last you a long time. $75 is a bit on the more expensive side of this post, but I promise you that it’s worth it.

Good brands to look out for
There are a bunch of good shoe brands out there to look for when deciding on the right pair of disc golf shoes. Nike, New Balance, and Adidas all make good tennis shoes…but we know we need more then just a tennis shoe. We need a trail running shoe that can handle competitive disc golf play. The following brands produce the best trail/hiking/performance shoes for disc golf:
• Merrell
• Adidas
• Columbia
• New Balance
• Keen
• Salomon
• Puma
• Asics
Just search for “sport hiking boots” or “trail running shoes” and you should be able to find what you’re looking for.
Word of caution on pricing
Our word of caution for this article concerns the prices listed for each and every shoe on our list. While we strive to bring you the most accurate, up-to-date info available, some prices listed below could vary depending on various factors like: color or size of shoe, Amazon.com or InfiniteDiscs.com changing prices of different shoe models, and updated versions of shoes being released.
So some of the prices below may be off a few dollars, but we’ll do the best we can to keep everything updated. We encourage you to always check the current prices of each individual item to decide for yourself if you want it or not. Anyways, let’s get on to the good stuff!
The 7 best cheap disc golf shoes
1. Adidas Rockadia Trail Runner
Price: around $35-65 dollars
The Rockadia Trail Runner is one of the cheapest, yet best quality options you can get for disc golf. There are other cheaper trail running shoes but most aren’t made with quality materials like what Adidas has done for so long. That makes this shoe a solid, reasonably-priced option to think about when looking for a good set of disc golf shoes.
The great thing is that these usually run on the cheaper end of that price range above. But that doesn’t mean they’re not decent hiking shoes. These shoes are very highly reviewed, with comfort and price being two of the main selling points.
This shoe features: a mesh and knit upper sole for breathability, a cloudfoam midsole for cushioning, an ortholite sockliner for comfort, and a traxion outsole for maximum grip on any terrain.
You can get a pair of these here on Amazon.
2. New Balance 410v6 Trail Runner
Price: around $43-60 dollars
The New Balance 410v6 is another reasonably-priced, yet good quality option to choose from when looking for a good disc golf shoe. This trail runner is built well, comfortable, durable, and perfect for hiking the unpredictable disc golf terrain on most courses.
This shoe features: a synthetic mesh sole, comfortable cushioning, and a durable rubber outsole.
You can get these shoes here on Amazon.
3. Columbia Crestwood Waterproof Hiking Shoe
Price: around $55-60 dollars.
The Columbia Crestwood trail shoe is a very fairly-priced shoe option for disc golf. Columbia states that the North Plains Li is, “A lightweight and durable trail shoe for multiple adventures.” Other than that, this shoe is a simple, durable and waterproof option for you to get you through your rounds with ease.
If around $60 dollars is all you have for a pair of shoes, I’d go with this option. You can get a pair here on Amazon.
I know this post was about cheaper disc golf shoe options, but if you have around $90 or more to spend on some shoes, check out the Columbia Redmond Waterproof hiking shoe here on Amazon.
4. Asics Gel-Kahana 8 Trail Runner
Price: around $60-70 dollars.
The Asics Gel-Kahana 8 is a recent purchase that I’ve made. These shoes, in the first few times that I’ve worn them, feel extremely durable, reliable, and comfortable right out of the box. They’re a bit stiff right away but still offer that comfort. On top of that, they look pretty good, too.
Out on the course, I’ve played a few times with them and they’ve provided a lot of traction and grip. They appear to be able to handle just about all types of terrain with ease and I haven’t experienced any issues thus far. The only downside that I’ve seen is that these shoes are just a bit heavier than other trail shoes I’ve owned. But that hasn’t been a problem up to this point. **NOTE: I will update after I play with these in wet conditions.**
This shoe features: a rear foot gel cushioning system, a speva midsole that improves bounce, a duo max support system to enhance support and stability, and a trail specific outsole for uphill and downhill traction on all types of terrain. These shoes are really great and can be awesome for disc golf.
5. Adidas Terrex AX2R Disc Golf Shoe
Price: around $60-80 dollars.
The Terrex AX2R are the cheapest Adidas Terrex sport hiking shoes that you can buy…but that doesn’t mean that they’re any less capable than the more expensive versions of the Adidas Terrex line. Because of the price, these shoes may not seem like they are quality shoes ready for disc golf. But they’ve proven themselves time and time again within the #discgolfcommunity. The AX2R are hiking quality and will help you play through the toughest of terrains. That’s why we’ve chosen them as the best, cheapest disc golf shoes on the market. You’re getting the most out of a shoe for your money.
This shoe features: a breathable upper sole, a soft EVA midsole for cushioning, and a Traxion grip outsole.
You can get a pair of these shoes here on InfiniteDiscs.com.
Also, check out the AX2R’s here on Amazon as well…sometimes they have a better price on them.
6. Merrell Yokota 2 Sport Hiking Shoe
Price: around $75-80 dollars.
The Merrell Yokota 2 is my main choice on the disc golf course. I absolutely love this sport hiking shoe. I trust it in just about every situation imaginable in disc golf and I even wear these off the course for my full-time job in law enforcement. The Yokota 2s are really great shoes.
This shoe features: a rubber sole, a contoured kinetic fit base insole, a Merrell air cushion in the heel, and a sticky rubber outsole.
If you want to try out the Yokota 2, grab a pair here on Amazon.
7. Adidas Terrex AX3 Disc Golf Shoe
Price: around $80 dollars.
The Terrex AX3 from Adidas is a step up from the AX2R disc golf shoe, but a bit more expensive. The AX3 shoe is a really comfortable, durable option for your disc golf game. We already know that Adidas makes some quality trail shoes and this shoe is no different.
This shoe features: a mesh and synthetic upper sole, a molded TPU protective toe cap, a durable and lightweight EVA midsole, a molded sock liner, and a Continental rubber outsole.
Grab a pair of Terrex AX3s here on Amazon.com.
Overall
You need a good pair of shoes for disc golf…and the 7 pairs on this list are the best for your money. Hopefully you’ve been able to find a great pair on this list.
