Welcome to the new year! With that being said, it’s time to get some new discs for your bag. So why not go for a few of the classics? Yep, in this post, I’ve brought you just that – 7 classic disc golf fairway and control drivers to help you amp up your game and bring a little more fun to your rounds this year. So what are the 7 best fairway/control drivers of 2024? Let’s find out!
The 7 Best Fairway/Control Drivers of 2024!
1. Innova Teebird
When it comes to disc golf drivers, whether we’re talking about fairway, control, or distance discs, Innova is king. Their designers have created some absolutely legendary discs that are still used years – and even decades – after release.
The stays true with the Teebird. Innova created a control driver in the Teebird to truly stand the test of time. Even though it’s a control driver, with only a speed of 7, this disc can get you an insane amount of distance. All while helping maintain complete control for almost the entire flight. 0 turn and 2 fade means you’ll see a small, predictable fade on the end of flight. It won’t meathook, but it will always give you that small hook before parking near the basket.
If you’d like to try out the Teebird, grab one here on Discgolfunited.com.
2. Dynamic Discs Escape
The Escape is another really great control driver. With flight ratings of 9, 5, -1, 2, this slightly overstable disc flies very similar to the Dynamic Discs Sheriff distance driver. Just with a little less speed and overall distance. With the -1 turn and 2 speed, this disc will usually finish a little bit straighter than the Teebird, but does require more speed up front. Not much, though. However, if you do decide on the Escape, you’re going to have a lot of fun with this disc.
If that’s what you’re looking for, get one here on InfiniteDiscs.com.
3. Latitude 64 River
The River is one of the most popular and highest-rated fairway drivers on the market today. It’s also one of the few drivers I’ll actually recommend to new players. Why? Because it’s fairly easy to throw, flies straight, and has an INSANE amount of glide. With flight ratings of 7, 7, -1, 1, this can be a really great fairway driver for just about any disc golfer.
Grab yourself a River here on InfiniteDiscs.com.
4. Innova Leopard
The Leopard is hands down the best fairway driver for beginners. With flight ratings of 6, 5, -2, 1, the Leopard is insanely easy to throw and fairly easy for brand new disc golfers to sling down the course. I usually don’t recommend drivers for brand new beginners, but the Leopard is an easy disc, so I feel comfortable giving this disc to new players, along with a decent putter and mid-range.
If you’re new, or you want an excellent fairway driver, grab a Leopard here on Discgolfunited.com.
5. Infinite Discs Exodus
The Exodus is a super popular fairway driver from Infinite Discs. And with flight ratings of 7, 5, -0.5, 2, similar to the Innova Teebird, I’m not surprised that people like this disc. A lot of players compare it to a Teebird because it basically is a Teebird. Innova still makes Infinite’s lineup, so this disc is essentially a Teebird rebranded to say Infinite Discs (but with a tiny bit more turn).
If you’d like something similar to a Teebird, but more beginner-friendly, grab an Exodus here on InfiniteDiscs.com.
6. Discraft Anax
The Anax is a fun disc from Discraft’s Paul McBeth lineup of discs. With flight ratings of 10, 6, 0, 3, the Anax flies very overstable, so it’s a tough disc to throw. But if you’ve got a decent arm, and can handle the stability, it has the potential to easily become your go-to control driver. And the distance is impressive for only being a 10-speed disc.
If you want an advanced control driver to help amp up your game, grab an Anax here on InfiniteDiscs.com.
7. Axiom Insanity
For being an underrated disc golf brand, they really do make some great plastic. So far, I’ve only tried a few Axiom discs and I’ve loved every one of them. The Insanity is no exception. With flight ratings of 9, 5, -2, 1.5, this disc is easy to throw, flies fairly straight, has a small bit of ending fade, and is just overall a really fun control driver to play with.
If that’s what you need in your bag, grab the Insanity here on InfiniteDiscs.com.
Finally
I think that’ll do it. If you’re looking for a great fairway or control driver, there are many to choose from, but the 7 on this list are the best of the best when it comes to control and driving distance. These 7 discs have been highly-reviewed and player tested for years now. So if you need a great control driver, it’s on this list.
