When it comes to disc golf, precision and control are super important. That’s why having a great control driver can really make a huge difference in your disc golf game.
And as the sport of disc golf continues to grow and expand, players just keep getting better. So the need to improve is always there. But how do we do that? Simple. We find the right discs and we practice with them…a lot.
Today, in this post, we’ll be looking at the top 5 best disc golf fairway/control drivers to help you find what you’re looking for: a great control disc to help you absolutely crush your drives on the disc golf course.
You NEED an awesome control driver. So let’s check out 5 of the best below ⬇️:
The Top 5 Best Disc Golf Fairway/Control Drivers!
1. Innova Teebird
If you’re looking for the best control driver on the market, you’ve found it. The Innova Teebird has reigned supreme in this category for over 20 years now. It’s a true classic in disc golf as most disc golfers absolutely love this disc. And A LOT of players bag it.
With flight ratings of 7, 5, 0, 2, the Teebird is not only easy to throw, but extremely predictable with its small bit of fade once it starts slowing down. I mean, you can always rely on this disc sitting down to the left when it’s about to hit the ground (as long as you throw it correctly).
I would caution brand new beginners from using this disc, though. It’s not overly difficult to throw, but new players may not be ready for the fade right out of the gate. So maybe go with a Leopard or River first, but definitely grab a Teebird once you’ve got a little bit of experience under your belt.

2. Dynamic Discs Escape
I actually didn’t realize how great this control driver was until not too long ago. I’m a huge fan of Dynamic, but had yet to play with the Escape until I noticed it in a disc golf shop just a few months ago. My favorite driver is the Sheriff – with flight ratings of 13, 5, -1, 2 – so I figured I’d probably like this disc as well since flight ratings were fairly similar (Escape is 9, 5, -1, 2).
So I picked it up and immediately liked it a lot. It flies very much like the Sheriff, but doesn’t need as much power behind it to fly like its distance driver counterpart.
Similar to the Teebird above, this definitely isn’t a beginner disc. It’s really not that hard to throw, but still might be a disc to step up into after a few months of solid rounds with putters, mids, and easier control drivers. Once you’ve got some experience, the Escape will make a great fairway/control disc to start building some driving skills before diving into those distance discs.
If you’ve got the skill for it, grab an Escape here on InfiniteDiscs.com.
3. Latitude 64 River
I LOVE the River. It’s a really fun control driver that’s great for all players. It’s also one of the few drivers I would actually recommend for beginners.
With flight ratings of 7, 7, -1, 1, this disc is super easy to throw and has major distance potential due to its 7 glide! I mean, this disc has the potential to be one of your go-to drivers, irregardless of the 7 speed rating. Whether you need a ton of distance or just a driver to continue learning with, the River is THAT disc.
Grab a River here on InfiniteDiscs.com.
4. Innova Leopard
The Leopard is, hands down, the best fairway/control drivers for new players. I would nominate the River if the Leopard didn’t exist, but with flight ratings of 6, 5, -2, 1, the Leopard is the clear winner. It requires less speed and has less stability, both perfect for beginner disc golfers. Almost like a more aerodynamic mid-range with those numbers.
But the Leopard is simple – easy to throw, easy to control, and it gets the job done, no matter your skill level in disc golf. So if that’s what you’re looking for, grab one here on Discgolfunited.com.
5. Infinite Discs Exodus
The Exodus is a newer control driver, but one that has grown in popularity quite quickly over the last couple of years. Mainly because it flies similarly to a Teebird or a Teebird3, in my opinion. But the Teebird is an extremely popular disc, so seeing as how Innova makes the molds for the Infinite lineup, the Exodus should run similarly with similar flight ratings (7, 5, -0.5, 2).
If you’re looking for something overstable, or with a predictable fade, you’ve found the right disc. Grab an Exodus here on InfiniteDiscs.com.
So that’s it!
There you go. 5 of the absolute best fairway and control drivers in disc golf. Period. So if you’re looking for a good disc, hopefully this list helped. Control drivers are one of the keys to becoming a great player in this sport, which means finding a great disc can be essential for your improvement out on the course.
