Best Disc Golf Baskets

Disc golf baskets used to be few and far between, with the majority of them at public parks with local funding. In the past, baskets were heavy and had to be stuck in the ground. That was expensive, so the average player usually couldn’t afford to put a course together.

But today, the best disc golf baskets on the market have completely shattered the misconception that you can only play disc golf at certain places. Baskets in the 21st century are readily available for purchase by anyone and are extremely portable. Most baskets can be placed anywhere and can be moved to suit your practice (or course) needs.

We hope that the recommendations made on this page can help you with your decision to buy a disc golf basket.

So why do you need a disc golf basket?

Let’s look at the facts and try to figure out together why buying a disc golf basket can be a great purchase.

  1. They’re relatively cheap: I’m not talking about $10-20 dollars cheap, but you can get a portable basket for as low as $80 bucks. I know that still seems a little steep in price, especially if you’re usually broke like me, but they can be a really great investment if you can take care of the basket itself.
  2. You need to practice: if you want to get better, you have to practice. Playing disc golf is relatively inexpensive, if not free, but you can practice on your basket for free every time.
  3. Again, it’s free: Invite your friends over to have a putting competition or make up you own holes with your basket. Whatever you do, it will be free. You can’t beat that.

Our recommendations include two different types of baskets – portable and solid standing (metal)

1. The Innova DISCatcher Traveler Target disc golf basket (portable)

The first recommendation is for a portable disc-catching basket that you can fold up and take with you wherever you want to go throw. This basket is extremely portable. I’m talking about the Innova DISCatcher Traveler Target disc golf basket. This baby is sweet. I don’t currently own this, and I’ve only shot on this on one occasion, but this basket is really cool. It can easily be used as a legitimate target, as it’s very sturdy and reliable. The only drawback is the price, coming in at around $124.00 dollars at its cheapest. But still not too bad. You can find it here on InfiniteDiscs.com in a variety of colors. This basket is by far the best portable basket.

2. Yaheetech Portable disc golf basket

The second recommendation is for the Yaheetech Portable Disc Golf Basket. You can check the current price on Amazon, but it was around $70 dollars when I first saw it on Amazon. It’s extremely sturdy and can be used in a legitimate game of disc golf. If you had 18 of these, you would be set. As for portability, you can move this basket somewhat easily. But remember, it doesn’t fold up, So it’s not something you can just throw in the trunk to pull out whenever you want. Easily movable, but lacks the ability to be folded up for storage. Even though you can’t fold it, it isn’t that big, so it doesn’t need a lot of space in a garage or shed (if you have to put it up). This isn’t a professional basket by any means, but it’s good for practice and can help you improve. Best quality solid standing basket for the price.

3. MVP Black Hole 24 chain disc golf basket

I really like the MVP Black Hole basket. It is super nice and extremely professional looking. Discs play well off it and I really don’t have anything negative to say…could be portable? I mean you can move this basket around, especially on your property and around the house. This basket is awesome. You can check the current price here on InfiniteDiscs.com, but this basket is generally priced around $150 bucks.

Do you have to buy a disc golf basket?

No, not at all. You can either head to a course or build your own basket. You don’t have to buy a basket if you don’t want to. But if you’ve got the money, why not pick up a basket and get some extra practice in. I love having a basket at home. I get the extra practice in and my friends love to get some putts in when they come over.
